Directional Effects in Dielectric Properties of Molded Rubber

چکیده
During the COllrse of an inves tigation of differentlv compounded rubber-filler systems. it was obs;rved that specimens of the sarno composition som etimes showed large differences in their values of both dielectric constant and of diss ipa tion factor. Tho most likely explanation was that these electrical properties wero affected by the amount of flow in a given direcLion produced during manufacture of th e samples. A study was therefore made of tb e eHect of flow during molding upon the dielectri c constant and dissipation factor of a number of rubber-filler mixtures. The thermal expansivity of the samples was also obtained in order to determine correlations that might exist. The results show that flow during molding may produce large differences in th e dielectric constant, dissipation factor, and expansivity of certain rubber-filler mixtures.

Investigation of the Effect of Adding Aluminum Trihydrate (ATH) Particles on Electrical and Hydrophobic Properties of Two-Part RTV Silicon Rubber
In this paper, the effect of adding aluminum trihydrate (ATH) on electrical (including dielectric constant, dielectric loss and strength, volume and surface resistivity) and hydrophobic properties of two-part room temperature volcanized (RTV) silicone rubber resin coatings were investigated. For this purpose, the RTV-ATH nanocomposite was made by physical mixing and its electrical and hydrophob...

An investigation has been made of the effects from a compatibilizer, viz. carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR), on several properties of nitrile rubber (NBR) and acrylic rubber (ACM) blends, including curing characteristics, mechanical, dynamic mechanical and dielectric properties. The presence of XNBR until 10 phr resulted in an improvement of the ultimate tensile properties, especially elongati...
متن کاملDielectric and Carrier Transport Properties of Silicone Rubber Degraded by Gamma Irradiation
Silicone rubber (SiR) is used as an insulating material for cables installed in a nuclear power plant. Gamma rays irradiated SiR sheets for various periods at temperatures of 145 and 185 ◦C, and the resultant changes were analyzed by examining complex permittivity spectra and surface potential decay characteristics. Three different processes, namely, instantaneous polarization, electrode polari...
